Being a first-time film director, albeit with plenty of experience under her belt from stage directing, Lloyd had to come to grips with the special circumstances of being in charge of a movie. In “Anatomy Of A Musical Number: ‘Lay All Your Love On Me’” we’re let in on how the number was put together, from the vocal recording to the actual filming. On the eve of her wedding to Sky (Cooper) on the fictional Greek island of Kalokairi, Sophie finds her mother's journal and reads about her conquests.

The part of the film where Brosnan's character, Sam, leaves his New York office to go to the Greek Island was actually filmed at the Lloyd's building on Lime Street in the City of London. As she prepares to marry, Sophie (Amanda Seyfried) cannot help but wonder whether or not she will be able to have her father walk her down the aisle. There is definitely some noise in the image, and, while largely sharp, it's not as clear as a modern HD transfer. A complete set for Donna's Greek villa was built at the 007 stage at Pinewood Studios and most of the film was shot there.

In the morning, Donna attempts to comfort Sophie and offers to cancel the wedding; Sophie angrily reacts to this, saying she only wants to avoid her mother's mistakes. A soundtrack album was released on July 7, 2008, by Decca in the United States and Polydor internationally.
