Reyes, reveals that the school play will be A Midsummer Night's Dream set in a post-apocalyptic future, re-titled A Midsummer Nightmare (About Zombies). The portrayal of certain characters: While most of the characters in the book and musical are fairly similar, there are some differences in their portrayals. Be More Chill poses some really interesting questions about technology dependence and the pressure to be cool, but in my opinion it fails to deliver on the promises made by the premise. Hopefully that way Christine will understand that the disaster at the play was the squip’s fault, not Jeremy’s. In Rich's locker, Jeremy finds a box full of SQUIPs, which Jeremy then pours into a beaker of Mountain Dew ("The Pitiful Children").

Jeremy plans to implement his plans as he and Christine both practice for their school play, Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream. When Jeremy confesses everything to his mother at the end of the book, she makes arrangements for him to see a therapist.Vizzini ever heard voices, and if that was how he got the idea for the novel, which features a teenage boy who swallows a pill-size supercomputer that manifests as a disembodied presence in his head.

He manages to start a conversation with her during the first rehearsal, but he accidentally offends her by denying a rumor that he sent her a letter. Take That Us: The squip dismissively says that writing isn't a real career, as any squip could do it. I read this book because I wanted to better understand the musical but it was the definition of strange. Jeremy wakes up in the hospital, sharing a room with Rich, who proudly comes out to Jeremy as bisexual and is ready to finally be who he really is. Jenna is the Coolest girl in class (caps from the book), and her pool of gossip is pretty much limited to her friend Elizabeth and said friend’s “sluttiness”.His work has been honored by the American Library Association, BookSense, and the New York Public Library and h .

Christine said weird things, and Michael was pretty underdeveloped and boring, and while Christine was odd in the musical too, she was a lot more likable there. The ending: Without spoiling anything, it’s worth noting that the book and musical have notably different endings. Reconsidering another book by this author I once read, It's Kind of a Funny Story, I realize that the two female characters that were love interests, were also portrayed with this misogynistic attitude. The art supports the story well, with grayscale illustrations that use shades of blue to highlight elements of the dialogue and different parts of each panel. On December 12, 2019, the show announced that it would open an 18-week limited engagement run in Chicago at the Apollo Theater.

Please note that this package is for the 2021 West End Version and reflects pre-publication materials. It's weird for me to read this book because the main character, Jeremy, I really think is based on Ned.
