Now, when I read a new Cathy Glass book or listen to her stories on Audible, I don't feel like I'm reading a book, I feel as though I am reconnecting with an old friend. Another great book by this author, this was a really hard book to read given the truth of the story. I suppose the only interesting part was that it occurred during 2020 COVID pandemic so the author perhaps wanted to document how strange life was then. That is absolutely horrifying and the mother in this book did not deserve to get her youngest children back after abandoning her oldest.

Every time a Cathy Glass book comes out I know I need to set aside some time because I cannot put these books down once I start. The girls were inconsolable for days, not helped by only being allowed to see their mother online because of covid restrictions and concerns that she may frighten them into not telling the truth. The first title, Damaged, was number 1 in the Sunday Times bestsellers charts in hardback and paperback. You can change your choices at any time by visiting Cookie preferences, as described in the Cookie notice. The discussion Q's seemed slightly insensitive, as of course children's allegations should be taken serious. Ashleigh is now living in a children’s residential home where she will be prepared for semi-independent living when she comes out of care at eighteen.

I have been a foster carer for over twenty-five years and am what's known as a specialist foster carer, sometimes referred to as a level 3 carer. In my teens I began writing short stories, articles, a few radio plays, and entering writing competitions. Angie, 6, and her sister, Polly, 4, are utterly distraught when they arrive at Cathy’s house, having been taken from their home by social workers, after their older half-sister, Ashleigh, accuses their father of raping her. The fact is , they are true narratives of what each particular child goes through that passes through Cathy's family.Maybe it was the constant reference to covid it’s restrictions and their compliance or jumping to conclusions whilst also saying she didn’t judge? This was the story of two little girls who’s elder sister had made allegations against their father (the older sister’s stepfather) ending in them being removed to Cathy’s care. Yes, they are unique and tragic stories of individual children, but the themes reflect the experiences of millions of children across the world. In my opinion, they should have questioned the teenager and her boyfriend way more in depth early on and months of separation for the other two kids could have been avoided.
